The Chamber's monthly Business After Hours in January, was held at the Virginia Arts Festival.  Nearly 100 people networked while enjoying food and drinks.

The Chamber's monthly Morning Schmooze in January, was held at the St. Mary's Home for Disabled Children. Nearly 30 people networked over breakfast. The event is designed to build relationships with busines people in Hampton Roads.

Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms spoke to 1,000 business and community leaders and elected officials from Hampton Roads at the Chamber’s Virginia Beach State of the City luncheon on March 14 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

The Chamber and the SBDC convened a panel of judges to select six businesses, one from each Southside city and one from the Peninsula, to honor. The "Top 10 to Watch" businesses, Impressions in Print Leadership Award and Young Entrepreneur of the Year were also named.  In early April, several Chamber staff members visited these businesses and professionals to surprise them with the good news.  From the six city winners, one overall regional Small Business of the Year will be revealed at the Chamber's May 23 Small Business of the Year luncheon. 

In 2013, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce started a new tradition – The Valor Awards. The Chamber offered the Hampton Roads business community an opportunity to thank and recognize public safety heroes for extraordinary acts of courage and resourcefulness in the line of duty.

The Chamber's monthly Business After Hours in April, was held at the Courtyard Marriot Chesapeake/Greenbrier.  Nearly 100 people networked while enjoying food and drinks.

The 29^th annual Hampton Roads Small Business of the Year (SBOY) Awards luncheon was held May 23 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center with more than 300 people in attendance.  The event, held during National Small Business Week, featured guest speaker Dr. Stephen Scoper, Vice President of Virginia Eye Consultants. The overall winner of the 2013 Hampton Roads Small Business of the Year was 360IT PARTNERS of Virginia Beach. In addition, the Chamber recognized the "Top 10 to Watch" businesses, the Impressions in Print Leadership Award was presented to Zack Miller, Founder and Managing Director of Hatch and Brad Scott, owner of Cetan Corp., accepted the Young Entrepreneur Award (YEA!). 

The Chamber’s annual “Beach Bash” event was held on June 13 at Neptune Park at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. Despite the impending thunderstorm, over 500 attendees networked while enjoying refreshments and live music from the Janitors.

On June 13, the Chamber's President & CEO Jack Hornbeck was honored at a private retirement celebration hosted by Willcox & Savage in Norfolk. Friends, family, and business colleagues gathered to wish him farewell.

The Chamber's July Business After Hours was held in Motorworld in Virginia Beach July 23. Attendees enjoyed food, drinks, and rides while mingling and networking during the monthly event.

The Chamber's monthly Business After Hours in August, was held at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.  Nearly 100 people networked while enjoying food and drinks.

The Chamber’s first ever “Wild Wing Fling” event, was held on September 12 at the Bayside Harley-Davidson. Local business professionals enjoyed samplings of the best wings from area restaurants and networked while enjoying the live band and beautiful weather.

On September 20, fifteen teams competed in a Sand Kickball Tournament hosted by the Chamber and the Hampton Roads Sports Commission.

On September 25, the Chamber held its Professional Women’s Leadership Luncheon at the Holiday Inn Virginia Beach Norfolk Hotel & Conference Center.  More than 300 were in attendance to hear Macon Brock, chairman of the board of Dollar Tree, Inc. speak about the history and successes of Dollar Tree and what it takes to succeed in today’s business world.

Nearly 90 golfers enjoyed a day of golf at the Chamber's annual Hampton Roads Golf Outing held at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk.

More than 600 Enjoy Chamber’s Monster Mega Mixer

The Chamber’s “Monster Mega Mixer & Business Showcase” held on October 28 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center was a great success. Nearly 150 of the Chamber’s newest members set up exhibit booths showing off their products and services. Many donned on Halloween costumes and decorated their booths for the festivities. Guests enjoyed networking while listening to music provided by Astro DJ, dining on amazing food compliments of Distinctive Gourmet and were entertained by dancers from Copeland Mills Schools of the Arts

On November 14 at the Town Center City Club in Virginia Beach, nearly 20 elected officials were joined by more than 100 business leaders for a reception.  This annual reception gives the community an opportunity to meet and dialogue with legislators prior to the General Assembly Session.  The Chamber is a business advocate in local and state government and works closely with elected officials to create economic prosperity and enhance the quality of life. 

On November 15, business professionals, community leaders, and residents attended the Chamber’s Norfolk Biz Matters: Healthcare-Understanding the Affordable Care Act presentation at The Roper Center at Tidewater Community College.

The Chamber hosted its annual Business After Hours Holiday Gala and Marketplace at The Founders Inn and Spa. This special Business After Hours offered an opportunity for exhibitors to display goods and services in a holiday setting.

The Chamber’s Annual Meeting of the Membership, held December 11 at The Founders Inn, brought together 750 of the region’s business leaders and community leaders. Nearly 30 elected officials were in attendance, as well as 10 guests from Virginia’s Wounded Warriors program. The event’s keynote speaker, Governor-elect Terry McAuliffe, addressed the crowd and discussed the region’s assets, economic development, transportation.
